An 80-Square-Meter Stainless Steel Diaphragm Filter Press Has Been Shipped to South Africa

Recently, the 80-square-meter stainless steel diaphragm filter press customized and manufactured by our company for a South African customer was successfully loaded and shipped to South Africa. The equipment will be used in the solid-liquid separation process of a kelp alginate extraction project.

This project marks our company’s first in-depth participation in providing supporting services for the fine chemical extraction process of seaweed in South Africa, signifying a further expansion of our company’s influence in the international market.

Project Background

This project involves processing locally abundant native seaweed species, including giant kelp and Laminaria. The client plans to extract alginate through chemical methods for use in various fields such as food, pharmaceuticals, and industrial additives.

Material Specifications

  • Material: Chopped Kelp (Macrocyctis pyrifera/Ecklonia maxima).
  • Particle Size: Maximum 3mm.
  • Feed Consistency: Fibrous, organic biomass.
  • Liquid Phase: Water-based solution containing extraction chemicals (alkaline/acidic Ph 4).

Equipment Configuration Highlights

To meet our customers’ requirements for efficient dewatering, corrosion resistance, and stable continuous operation, we have customized the following technical solution for this project:

Stainless steel diaphragm filter press (80㎡)

  • Structural Material: The main frame is made of SUS304 stainless steel, and key components are made of SUS316L, suitable for acidic and alkaline environments.
  • Filtering Area: 80 square meters, meeting the requirements for medium-scale continuous processing capacity.
  • Filter plate material: Polypropylene diaphragm plates, externally coated with rubber diaphragms, possessing excellent elasticity and chemical corrosion resistance.
  • Membrane pressing system: High-pressure gas secondary pressing effectively reduces the moisture content of the filter cake.
  • Filter cloth selection: Acid and alkali-resistant fiber filter cloth, with strong anti-clogging properties, suitable for filtering algae-based materials.

Belt conveyor system

Function:  Automatically discharges filter cake and continuously conveys it to subsequent drying or stacking processes.

Material Configuration: The conveyor belt is made of food-grade PVC material, and the support structure is made of stainless steel, ensuring corrosion resistance and easy cleaning.

Automatic Interlock:  Starts in conjunction with the filter press control system, enabling unattended continuous operation.

Intelligent control system

  • PLC + Touch Screen Integrated Control
  • Achieves automatic control of the entire process, including clamping, feeding, pressing, unloading, and conveying.
  • Equipped with emergency stop, safety interlocks, and remote monitoring functions to ensure safe operation.

Shipping Site

This equipment is being shipped to South Africa, and the sea freight transit time is relatively long. Our company has applied anti-corrosion, moisture-proof, and shock-resistant packaging to all equipment to ensure stability and prevent displacement during transportation. The on-site packing process was supervised throughout by experienced shipping engineers.
